Travel
Please let me know when you plan to arrive. It’s a 4+ hour drive. We can get on the boat at 7 PM, Thursday night, sleeping on it so we are ready to set sail the next day. If you are unable to get there Thursday, please travel up early so we can leave the harbor between 9 and 10 AM, Friday morning. Carpooling encouraged. Please let me know if you’re interested with day and time you plan to leave.
Many ways to get to Bayfield…
Fastest: Interstate 35 North to Hwy 2 to Ashland, WI. 13 N. Superior Charters on Right.
Most Scenic: 94 East to 63 North. East on Hwy 2, WI. 13 N. Superior Charters on Right.
Something in between: Find an old fashion map of Wisconsin or online and chart your course. The Lake Superior drive just East of Superior WI is beautiful as well. Take 13 South, which seems odd, but it is the way to drive the lake shore through some small towns, including Bayfield. Continue through Bayfield and Superior Charters will be on your left.
If you have time I encourage you to stop at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center, corner of Highways 2 and 13 outside Ashland for a video introduction of the Apostle Islands. nglvc.org

Food
Shopping for the meals will happen on Thursday. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR DIETARY NEEDS! We will not be having any crustaceans on the trip – I’m allergic. My routine is to leave Minneapolis at 8:30 AM. Golf the Apostle Highlands Golf Course golfbayfield.com. Shop for food. Load it into the boat at 7 PM and then head to a restaurant in Bayfield by 7:30 PM. You are welcome to join me on any or all of these activities. Most people simply meet me at the restaurant after 7:30 PM.
Friday - Preparing for the Adventure
??AM – Wake Up. Showers available. Breakfast. Boat Orientation and Devotions about sharing the acceptance, forgiveness, and love of Jesus as we learn to live in community with one another. What do you need others to know about you to make this experience enjoyable for everyone, especially you?
Setting Sail where the winds take us…(Friday & Saturday)
We will go out into the Apostle Islands, listening to the weather report so we can anchor safely the next two nights. Everyone will learn how to sail, taking the helm and tending the lines. If the weather cooperates we will explore the islands including sea caves, light houses, and hike through a tombolo. Morning Bible Study and evening worship will center us.
Sunday - Head back to the Harbor and Return Home.
We will return to the harbor by 3 PM. We need to clean up the boat, making it ship shape. Showers are available. We try to head home by 5 PM; option to stop for dinner along the way.
